NoStache16 and I hit up the cool and chill arena for the 1 and 330 practice sessions for the potential Chiefies. Of course there were returning Chiefs too. We saw Jared Spurgeon and Ryan Letts taking in all the action as they are on the injured list. We saw some boyos we liked and others we’d rather take a pass on.
I really like the looks of goaltender Brendan Edie. That’s why I wrote a heart by his name. He was very Tokarski-esque in the pipes. Quick recovery, clean and has a routine. He was the only goalie NS16 and I had a lot to say about. Well, James Reid was wonderful of course. And he finally got his mask painted up. It looks really good. He’s a big goalie boy now.
Team Cote, white: Devon Toews did things, I assume he is related to Jonathan Toews? He wore weird gloves. They were green and yellow and reminded me of a dinosaur. We wrote a smiley face next to defenseman Brady Thudium. We must have liked him. Stars went to forwards Brady Brassart and Jess Collins. Anthony Bardaro notched at least one goal and was nice and gritty. I laiiiiike.
Team Sawyer, blue: Edie played for Team Sawyer. I think it’d be a good idea to roll with a Reid and then Edie pairing. And raise Edie into a starter. Not many notes were written the blues. We did mark stars next to defenseman Reid Gow and forwards Michael Aviani and Nick Farmer.
Team Whitfield, white: Notice next to James Reid’s name I drew a rainbow, butterflies and some hearts. Obvs, we like him and have. There was a lot of defense on this squad who were quite lovely; Eddie Friesen Cole Hamblin, Boomer Rooney (stopped Mike Reddington, I KNOWWWW). I took quite the liking to Zach Frye. This kid was skating hard and fast the entire time and did a good amount of checking. I can haz this puppy, plz? MOMMMMM I WANT THIS PUPPY! I ALREADY GOT HIM A CUTE COLLAR AND A DOGGIE TSHIRT. For the forwards, Matt Marantz was smiley, a good sign. Some of the players seemed a bit sour. Not a cute look. NS16 and I kept saying “oh! who is 19 in white?! I like that one!” It was Mike Betz. We must have said this about 12 times. So, pretty much we expect amazingness from him this season. Levko Koper surely was eating his Wheaties in the off season. He was lovely as always, this season just might be The Levko Koper Show.
OH. Where the EFF was Dominik Uher? Unless our new import pick has this dazzling invisibility, he wasn’t there. And not even in a Lee Stempniak on the Leafs sort of way. As in the, not even on the bench. I wanted to see him in action since the Chiefs sent out that email about him with the really failtacular pun.
Sunday Sunday SUNDAY. It’s the Red and White game at 1pm with doors opening at noon. Get ready kids. Pull those team colors out of your closet, it’s time to rock them again. We’re still sorta figuring out where the crew wants to sit. Hit up my email and we’ll get it nailed down.
- The wonderful FrankD of Pensburgh slide this my way; an article about what a growing Cow Cow eats. Apparently it’s not whole oxen like I theorized.
- And I still do write things! I wrote my five reason why I love hockey over at According to Cameron Frye. Give it a read, won’t you? And enjoy the lists from the other fabulous femmes.

I LOVE THE POSSIBILITIES!!!!!!!!
I mean no disrespect to Wright you are good but we need someone young we can mold into perfection and I think we agreed on the fact Edie is the man for the job.
I may just have a thing for goalies but Mr. James Reid was killin out there today and taking numbers and that’s the way I like it! I will be keepin an eye on that boy this season!
Boomer Rooney (if that is your real name) we may have judged you unfairly but you seemed to prove us wrong, but Zach Frye stole the defensive show for me sry. Mike Betz buddy you better live up to all the talent you showed us today you too I will be keepin an eye on.
(OH HEEEYYYY!!!) Levko Koper I believe has stole “The Drayson Bowman Show “and made it his own && in my humble opinion he deserves it!
Lastly Dominik Uher you disappointing me today, maybe they are saving your greatness as a secret weapon?!
All in all Sundays game shall hold good talent and hard decisions for the Chiefs coaching staff!

I cannot wait to go check things out today… I mean, its 7:30 on a weekend and I can’t sleep ’cause I’m too excited to get back to the Arena.
Looking forward to seeing this Edie in the pipes.

Hahaah. Your notes are excellent. I’m glad that you clarified that the rainbow was indeed a rainbow. I think Odd Gloves Toews is Jonathan’s little bro. Which is cute.

I think next year I should take notes with crayons. Color code the roster.
Oh and Baby Toews is a defenseman! He looks small. But Cowen wasn’t on the ice for size comparison. We did a lot of estimating on size.

Funny writeup. Is Team Cote for Sylvain? lol I hope Team Whitfield has nothing to do with Trent.

Indeed, it would be Trent Whitfield and Brandin Cote. For camp, each team is named for a Chief alumni and it changes each year. Well, I think there was a Whitfield last year too.
