I’m pulling this one item from the real newspaper. I KNOW RIGHT? I even had to read the article and type it out myself;
“The Spokane Arena is introducing a “Knucklehead Program” – a text-messaging service- by which fans can let staff know about others in the crowd that are getting out of control.
The system makes its debut Friday night at the Chiefs’ game with Prince Albert.
The program also enables fans to inform staff of any other issue or concern they may have while at an event, such as a technical problem.
An arena press release says: “Guests can look forward to having their issue resolved quickly, efficiently and, most importantly, anonymously.”
After texting, fans will recieve a confirmation back on their mobile device follwed by a staff response to the issue.
Signs with instructions on how to use the program will be located throughout the arena.”
Ok, now I applaud the idea of this program. It needs a new name though. Because that automatically has a bit of a negative conotation. If anything it should just have a plain name like “fan concerns services” or “personal guest services” or something more neutral sounding. But perhaps because I am picky on words I’m overthinking it. I really do hope this program is executed well and it renders the section leaders slightly more useful. Because really, I shouldn’t have to do the section leaders job and tell them when people are being overserved or seat jumping. For the most part, the arena truly has a great atmosphere with very few problem fans and I’m glad the organization seems to want to maintain this.

I agree with the word choice. I had no clue what it was about so when I read “Knucklehead Program” my nose scrunched up. Overall, it sounds kinda decent…I just hope some mom doesn’t turn me in for my mouth

I can see this going:
1) horribly wrong and drive [guest] fans away from the arena because a few a-hole fans we have now have access to this informal complaint ability and will be able to complain whenever they want to….
2) awesomely. It took almost the whole season before the a-holes in 118 got moved last year.
I have mixed feelings. I suppose it’s a good thing I behave at games.
And yes… hopefully this gives the section leaders something more to do.
Now we wait and see how it works…

This would tempt me to do bad things to the people who caused me the mildest irritation.

I predict it being abused for some of the bigger games.

It really needs a new name. I wonder what the volume of texts received will be.
